CATCHPlus on EuropeanaConnect: Persistent Identifier Meeting

On February 17-18, 2010, CATCHPlus participated in and contributed to the EuropeanaConnect ERDS (Europeana Resolution Discovery Service) meeting at the German National Library in Frankfurt. Aim of this meeting was to jointly formulate requirements for the Europeana “meta resolver” for the different kinds of persistent identifiers in use with participating institutions.

CATCHPlus had the opportunity to report on their experiences with formulating requirements from Cultural Heritage and Audiovisual domains, on the solution that CATCHPlus has chosen and implemented and on a number of application pilots. There was a lot of interest in the solution offered.

CATCH

CATCHPlus builds on the running programme "Continuous Access To Cultural Heritage" (CATCH), ran by N.W.O. (The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research). In CATCH, computer scientists, the humanities and the cultural heritage sector have set up a unique collaboration with collection managing institutions. Innovation, transferability and cooperation are central issues in this project.

CATCH started in 2004 and a number of subprojects has finished. In CATCHPlus, the prototypes and demos fro eight of the finished projects will be converted to reliable tools. Software that is solid and can be used in multiple institutions. From prototype to reliable application!
